"I'm sorry, but I've dedicated my life to my lord and savior, Jesus Christ," the incredibly smoking ginger tells her from behind a glass of beer. "And you're going to hell, so bye."

Does Jesus know you screwed your friend in the back of the car last Friday night? She wants to ask, but she manages to refrain. Instead, Cosette sighs, rubbing her hand against her forehead, tired from her fifth Jesus freak in a row. Really, how was a town like Siren Cove so populated with religious assholes?

"Another rum and coke, please," she tells the bartender when he comes over to check on her empty glass. He nods and takes it to refill it for her.

Cosette doesn't often get the chance to let loose like this, and really, she thinks, her goals for the evening aren't that ambitious; she doesn't even care about getting laid. She just wants to flirt, and maybe make-out with someone in a way she'll regret in the morning. But no, Siren Cove's Jesus brigade seems out to ruin even those minuscule plans.

She didn't attend the ball the other night, and she doesn't regret not going, even if she potentially could have met someone there. No, she's happy, despite her failed love life, to sit here in her loose, low-cut summer dress, waiting for her bad luck streak to finally end.

(OOC: Back from the brief hiatus and inspired by a random thought I had this morning. Find Cosette at Watersong, nursing a drink and striking out on every attempt at hitting on a girl.

She's been restless all day, stocking books with itching fingers and rushing to pick up extra groceries for Jasmine with a twitch to her step. She'd rushed through this day with her thoughts whirling about her mind like a hurricane. Only at dusk, alone on a near empty beach in one of the more desolate corners, has Cosette felt at liberty to stop and take a breath, inhaling the salty air with the hunger of a vagrant poet.

That had been an hour ago. Now, she's fully formed as her siren self, the naked chest of a human woman and the lower body of a seal. She weaves in and out of the water, playing with some wandering fish and dancing in the waves. For a good ten minutes, she remains beneath the surface, taking pleasure at the distorted world held behind the water as though it were made out of glass.

She breaks through the surface when she feels the urge to recreate that particular scene from The Little Mermaid, even indulging a bit in singing part of "Part of Your World." She doesn't care who hears her.

As she reaches a particularly high note, she is suddenly and abruptly drawn beneath the surface.

In the wake of the Hydra, Siren Cove was an awful mess. Not that said description did any justice to the citizens who'd lost their lives or those currently in the hospital because of the nightmarish creature. But just as much of the town remained as damaged as its people, and Cosette, with her own minor injury thoroughly taken care of thanks to Joel, is out at the beach to help with the aftermath.

The police and firemen were there, of course, as well as various church groups and charities. Cosette had volunteered instantly, knowing she could be of assistance, especially since it was the full moon, that night, thus enabling her to make use of her ability to spread good fortune to others. Already, she had reunited lost pets with frantic owners, solved a case of a missing purse, and potentially linked together a pair of future lovers.

Now, she is sorting through scorched sand and picking up scattered debris, keeping an eye out for any who may need her aid. This close to the sea, she is tempted to take on her natural form and investigate the waters as to the cause of the Hydra. But she knows better, and so she settles for letting her hair flow loose in the wind behind her as she continues her work.

She starts to sing softly under her breath, one of her favorite arias, as she works.

(OOC: Set to after the Hydra attacks, this is Cosette's introduction post of sorts. Find her roaming the beach, picking up trash, and singing as she does so. She's friendly, so feel free to say hello!)

If you'd like to involve Cosette in any magic/shenanigans related plots, or if you'd like to employ her siren abilities somewhere, let me know here! :3

Also, just a note: Cosette's siren abilities are based more in selkie/mermaid folklore. She can remain/live underwater for long periods of time (forever, if need be) and her siren form is that of half-human, half-seal, a nod to her ancestors who were selkies.

•CHARACTER NAME: Cosette Bridget Halloran

•CHARACTER AGE: 19

•BACKGROUND & HISTORY: Cosette Halloran was born off the coast of Wicklow, Ireland in the Irish Sea, to parents considered of significance within the Siren nobility of that area. As the youngest daughter of five sons, her parents felt no need to care for her and thus, shoved her off on the first siren who would take her, her cousin Jasmine Halloran from the Mediterranean Sea. With tensions rising between Sirens in that part of the world, Aunt Jasmine quickly took Cosette when she was barely two years old and settled with her in Siren Cove, Maine because of the safe haven it presented for sirens.

Cosette grew up in Siren Cove on land with her Aunt, blending in with the outside world for safety purposes. However, she was always aware of her heritage, both as a siren and as an exiled member of noble siren society. Jasmine never wanted to hide anything from her, devoted as she was to Cosette. She taught Cosette how to wield and control her powers even as Cosette attended public school and appeared to the world a normal child, participating in various sports and choirs over the years.

Jasmine never had much money to begin with, so when she made the move to Siren Cove, she moved into a small, one bedroom apartment with Cosette. She occasionally had to work two jobs to make ends meet, but once Cosette grew old enough, she put in her share through various babysitting jobs and, currently, her part-time job at the public library.

Cosette currently attends Saint Bernadette's University, living at home while pursuing a dual major in vocal performance and music education, aspiring to become a teacher, secretly hoping to become a singing sensation just to prove to her birth parents how wrong they were about her.

Cosette lives with her guardian, Aunt Jasmine, in one of the poorer parts of town the rich likes to pretend doesn't exist. In spite of that, thanks to her arts and crafts habits and her desire for creativity wherever she can find it, Cosette has helped to make her small apartment with her aunt feel like home. She wouldn't trade it for the world.
